HERE I HAVE FOR SALE… A PAIR OF SHACKTUNE FRONT HUB BEARING SPACERS TO SUIT. Triumph 2000 Saloons & Estates (all models, all engines), Triumph Stag. All GT6 & Vitesse 2L MK1, MK2 & Lotus when fitted with GT6/Vitesse hubs and stub axles. These can also be modified by me, to suit Toledo and Dolomite models.. Please contact me for further info. As standard, Aston Martin, Austin Healey, MG & Porsche use the same system to great effect on front wheel bearings. Most of the wear experienced in the Triumph wheel bearing, is caused by the bearings shuffling about on the stub axle. It wears out the face of the vertical link (spider), stub axle, D washer & internal bore of the bearings.. The rollers & tapers wear very little over there life span. As the hub moves around it causes premature wear of the bearings by rupturing the surface hardening. Another side affect of hub movement is premature wear of the discs/pads & pad knock-off. Pad knock-off shows up as a longer brake pedal. Exaggerated greatly after a slow tight turn or reversing. The spacer kit effectively locks the inner races to each other & the stub axle, thus preventing any extra wear to the spider, stub axle & D washer. It also makes the stub axle less susceptible to flex. Theoretically, if the bearings are set up correctly with the spacers, they should never need to be reset until they need new bearings... This could equate to 60k to 100k miles. My own car (Triumph 2.5Pi Mk1) was fitted with the original prototype set 19 years ago.. Still going strong after 7 sessions in the alps, 137 mph on the Autobahn, 7 Round Britain Runs, Many track days and a result of 5th overall in the Pomeroy Trophy.
